Photos of children going back to school are being shared like crazy this week and the change of seasons has me thinking about the beginning of Summer, when my kids enjoyed this beautiful Tea Party with some friends. The trees were blooming beautifully (soon the leaves will be changing colors) and I feel like the changing seasons are always a time for reflection.
Just as the trees were blooming, so was the friendship between these kids. At the beginning of the summer, they’d see each other outside playing and just sort of stare at each other from yard to yard. We’d tell them it was ok to say “Hi” but they had to slowly work up to it themselves. Finally, one day, they were all brave enough to actually play.
It was a beautiful day and the trees were dreamy. We invited the kids over for this tea party photo shoot and they giggled the whole time! Even Braxton didn’t mind that he was the only boy amongst the girls. The giggles were contagious!
I have to admit that most of our summer didn’t look like a Hallmark Greeting card. Some of these photos are simply dreamy, but that’s the glory of a portrait session with a professional photographer! 😉 The kids did get into little kid arguments over whose turn it was to push the stroller, that sort of thing. But, overall, it was absolutely adorable to watch their friendship bloom. Since my childhood best friend is still my best friend (I love you, Lisa!) I think it’s such a blessing to have nice photos documenting when things first started. Here’s to beautiful childhood memories, lifelong friends, changing seasons, and giggles over tea….
