It’s common knowledge that Northwest Ohio is a cold place to spend a winter. Portrait Photographers dread the season. Most days are dreary and we’re often limited to studio photography. But, sometimes, we really need to stop and take a look around. Do you realize how beautiful it is here? Seriously! I have family that lives in Florida. I get so jealous when I see their pictures online. You know, the ones of toes in the sand. But it’s funny, because as much as we’d love to be there, chilling in the sun, they would love to be taking photos amongst Ohio’s snowy trees. Bundled up in scarves and mittens isn’t so bad when you can come inside to a mug of hot chocolate. This season will only last a little bit longer, and then we’ll be on to the next thing. It’ll be our turn to take photos underneath the Spring Blossoms. But, while it’s cold outside, I have one thing to ask you….. do you want to build a snowman?
When the snow started falling a few days ago, it was so soft. The snowflakes were those big, beautiful flakes that you kinda can’t resist to look at and see if you can find two that are alike (even though you know it’s impossible.) We knew it was the perfect time to take Izzabella out for her 5 year children portrait session. By the way, I can’t believe the baby that made me a mother is turning FIVE! Anyway, she was so excited for her photos that she posed so sweetly for a minute and then got a bit giddy and started running through the snow. I was so afraid she’d freeze without her coat, but since she had layers on and we were quick about it, her excitement won and she did a lot of smiling! Well, ok, and that ornery face that very clearly told me, “I’m going to run now, Mom!”
This last photograph is my favorite. My daughter may not be my baby anymore, but she’ll always be the one that made me a Momma. Doesn’t this image just scream, “I’m five years old!” Her birthday isn’t for another couple of weeks, so I’ll savor my sweet 4 year old and I’ll cherish these images, and the memories. I can’t wait to get them printed and framed!
