Documenting the story, Baby #3 {Swanton Ohio Photography}

Let me introduce you to a really inspiring family.   Sarah came to me for her first consultation about a year ago and I can’t believe it’s been that long ago (and yet, that little bit of time ago!)    I have so grown to love this time I’ve gotten to know her and her family, and to photograph this last year.    Sarah was about half way into her pregnancy with her third baby.   They already had two children- a girl and a boy- and everybody was taking bets on what the gender of Baby #3 was going to be!   (Everybody thought boy, in case you were wondering.)

Getting to know everybody’s personality has been a blast with this family!

During Sarah’s  appointment, we discussed her birth desires for her birth photography and naturally, her birth plan.   Her first two births were good experiences, but she had an itch for a home birth.  We discussed this at length- the pros, the cons, the concerns, the costs, pretty much whatever you could think of.   I’d been on both sides of the hospital birth vs. home birth fence, and I think I make a decent sound board for those that need to get their thoughts out.   I reminded her that it’s never too late to change care providers if her heart wasn’t getting want it wanted.    Sarah and her husband did decide to go with a home birth, and I’ve seen them slide down the slope of “crunchy” ever since.   Sorry about that, I guess I didn’t warn you it’s a slippery slope!  😉

After that great conversation, we waited until just the right time to create their family and maternity portraits.   This was when I met their kids for the first time and I think you’ll see that I wasn’t disappointed in their personalities!

Sibling love at it’s finest!

Capturing kids being kids is a lot of fun! They won’t be like this forever!

I hope you enjoy as I blog through their Pregnancy, Home (water) Birth story with Birth Photography, and her little one’s first year in portraits.   We still have a few sessions yet before we reach that Cake Smash Milestone, but the first year journey has been so amazing to watch and I hope you’ll come back to check it out as we document it along the way!

This is my FAVORITE maternity portrait of Sarah! I love it! (And look at her awesome belly- you can see where the baby is lying!)

It was chilly and about to storm, but that mostly meant we had a really beautiful sky for the end of our outdoor session!
